BRIAN
Ciao, Bella. I'm Brian.
I am a Strategic Product Design student specializing in Technology for Sustainable Development. During my bachelor in Product Design at the Politecnico di Milano I was really inspired by professor Ezio Manzini, believing that “the designer should be an active agent of change in the transition towards sustainable development”. Since then, I have tried to channel my studies consequently, starting with an internship at the Research Unit of Design and Innovation for Sustainability (DIS) with professor Carlo Vezzoli and a graduation project on a Portable Hand Washer for sanitary hand hygiene of health care workers in medical disaster response. Last year I did an internship at the Interunivesitary Research Centre for Sustainable Development (CIRPS), La Sapienza University of Rome, that lead to a collaboration with UNDP in Honduras. I am currently working on a Design Research project investigating for key-factors impacting successful implementation and objective evaluation of Design for Development projects. My ambition is to work in the field of Design for Development and I see this project as a great opportunity to take one more step in that direction.
DANIEL
Hello there, I'm Daniel.
I'm an Integrated Product Design student specializing in Technology for Sustainable Development. I strive to design meaningful products and services by understanding the needs of the people who will ultimately use them. I've been living all over the World and have been in contact with a wide variety of cultures and traditions. I'm very eager to use the knowledge and experience I've accumulated to achieve the best possible outcome for this project.
KATHRYN
Hey, I'm Kath!
I am a Strategic Product Design master student. With a background in Industrial Design from the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, as well as previously completing an exchange in École de Management, Strasbourg, France, I have experienced many cultures during my travels abroad. Through my variety of education from differing disciples and professors, I have come to understand that sustainability is crucial to better advance those who need help, as well as future generations of this earth. We are currently in an age where we can no longer turn back the negative human impact we have endured on the earth. However, I believe that as the human race, our role is now to try to abate the cessation of mankind, and preserve and prolong the life of the earth.
FILIPPO
Ola, I'm philo, just like the pastry.
I am an Integrated Product Designer, currently specializing in Medical Design. My father and older brother are both doctors and I’ve always been fascinated by the medical field. My ambition is to combine this interest with my passion for design innovation. I believe that this project could give me a great opportunity to challenge myself with a real BoP Design project in the context of a developing country.
DIONISIS
Gia sas, I'm Dio!
I am an Industrial Design Engineer following the Integrated Product Design MSc and the main focus of my studies has been Interior, Transportation and Ergonomics design. I studied Product and Systems Design Engineering at the University of the Aegean. The subject of my diploma thesis was: “Ergonomic design of driver’s and co-drivers posts for a city three wheeled vehicle”.
During the course of my studies I did a number of internships. 1. In July - August 2005 I joined a team of students and worked at Kelyphos Aqua lab. That short period workshop gave me the chance to work in the design of plexiglas aquariums. The construction of the aquariums familiarized me with vacuum forming techniques and stainless steel machining. 2. In the same year, I joined BIC - Violex Shavers R&D for a 3 months placement. Among other responsibilities, I was assigned to design blisters and shavers handles following ergonomic design guidelines. 3. During the elaboration of my diploma thesis in cooperation with the Ergonomics Unit - School of Mechanical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). I worked with several professors on projects such as Ergonomic intervention in driver’s cabin of the Athens Tramway and Ergonomic intervention and subsequent re-design of Vodafone shops furniture.
After my graduation in 2008 I started my professional career both as an employee or as a freelancer in various fields such as Interior and Exhibition design, and Applied arts.
